N.C. Supreme Court Closes Case on Redistricting at State Level by Upholding Maps Once Again

Raleigh, N.C. – Once again, the highest court in North Carolina has joined the Obama Justice Department in validating North Carolina’s redistricting plans.

The state Supreme Court on Thursday denied the plaintiffs’ motion for a rehearing of Dickson v. Rucho, the state-level challenge filed by far-left special interest groups.

Rep. David Lewis (R-Harnett) and Sen. Bob Rucho (R-Mecklenburg), Chairmen of the House and Senate Redistricting Committees, released the following joint statement in response:

“We appreciate the North Carolina Supreme Court’s decision, which means this case is closed at the state level. Today’s ruling makes our track record even more clear – five out of six times that North Carolina’s redistricting plans have been reviewed, they have been validated as fair, legal and constitutional. We hope the U.S. Supreme Court will recognize this, allow our state time to appeal the one and only conflicting opinion, and allow our current election to move forward.”
